TXT is a text file format used to store plain text data. It is one of the most common file formats for storing basic document data, such as emails, texts, and other plain text content. Files in this format usually have the '.txt' extension and are easily opened by any text editor software or by the Notepad application on Windows. A TXT file is used to create portable documents that can be transferred from one system to another without requiring formatting changes. This makes them ideal for documents that will be printed or viewed on different platforms, as no special software is required. They are fast to load, easy to create and edit, and are small in size compared to other document formats. | DOCX is an XML-based document format used primarily with Microsoft Word. It is the default file type for versions of Word from 2007 onwards, replacing the older DOC format used in earlier versions. It is a zipped, compressed file that contains a collection of XML files, which contain the text, formatting, images, charts and other miscellaneous parts of the document. The DOCX extension indicates that all files within the archive are encoded in the UTF-8 character set. Because it is open and non-proprietary, some open-source applications have been developed to read and convert DOCX files into other file formats such as PDF. However, true editing of DOCX files requires access to some form of MS Office suite. |
