WBMP (Wireless Bitmap) is an image file format intended for use on the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol, a standard for sending data from mobile phones to the web) platform. It is the simplest monochrome image format with only black and white pixels. A WBMP file consists of minimal information in a very compact size. Like all monochrome images, a WBMP file uses 1 bit per pixel, which makes it ideal for sending images to devices with limited or low-bandwidth connections. This image format is also supported by many of the major web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. | WEBP is a file type developed by Google that is designed to offer graphics and images with a higher compression rate than what is available with other formats, such as JPG or PNG. WEBP files are typically smaller in size than other popular image file types, which makes them ideal for use on webpages where file size is important for reducing page load time. WEBP files support both lossy and lossless compression. The lossy option reduces file size with minor decreases in image quality, while lossless preserves the image quality without sacrificing storage space. WEBP can also include animations and incorporate transparency levels depending on the properties of the file. |
